Success at Collection Day in Luxembourg

Yesterday we kicked-off our pan European World War 1 family history roadshow at the National Library of Luxembourg. We invited members of the general public to share their stories, photographs, postcards, letters or other items from the time of the First World War. During the roadshow, historians and experts were available to talk about the significance of the finds — while our staff digitised and uploaded them to the website.

Over 70 people attended the roadshow in Luxembourg and many contributions were digitised by our team for inclusion in the Europeana 1914–1918 archive. We would like to thank all of the people that took the time to share their items and stories from the First World War. We have included some images from the event below, along with dates and locations for our upcoming roadshows.

We are building the first ever online European archive of private memorabilia from WW1 in time for the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of war – and we need your help to do this. So please bring your memorabilia along to an event, or alternatively if you are unable to attend a roadshow you can contribute to the archive online at Europeana1914-1918.eu.
