Lea is an intern at Europeana, currently working in the business development department while studying towards her Master’s degree in European Project Management. Originally from the city of Nantes on the French Atlantic coast, Lea has been living in the Netherlands for the past six months.

As an intern Lea’s role is diverse and challenging – changing on a daily basis in order for her to gain new skills and utilise her personal interests across the organisation. Right now some of her main tasks include working on the Europeana Content Strategy (for the European Commission), recording masterpieces in Europeana, and communication with national aggregator partners in order to organise workshops.

One of Lea’s favourite objects in Europeana is a postcard depicting a beach near her hometown.

“This is a beach on a small Island nearby Nantes, called Noirmoutier. My family is originally from there, and the beach featured here is called “Plage des Dames”, meaning “ladies’ beach”, and the reason for that name is that historically there was a monastery nearby, and the nuns came to that beach to bath. It’s the most beautiful beach in Noirmoutier and I have been going there from a young age.”
