New Portal: Europeana Needs You!

At Europeana we’ve been working to improve the design and usability of our portal. We invite you to take our end user feedback test to be one of the first to get a sneak peek of the new Europeana portal (coming very soon).

Lord Kitchener Wants YouThe famous “Lord Kitchener Wants You” poster debuted in 1914 at the start of World War I. It made its first appearance on the cover of the London Opinion and resulted in massive recruitment success. You can learn more about Lord Kitchener on Europeana.

The new portal will boast a cleaner design with an interface that makes it easier to search and browse content on mobile and tablet devices.  This improvement will see the portable adapt to any screen size, so whether you’re browsing Europeana from a 53cm monitor or a 5cm mobile display, the portal will look fantastic and function effortlessly.

This update will take effect within the next couple of months; however before we launch the new portal we’d really like to get your feedback. We’re interested in learning more about your clicking habits, that is, which part of the portal you click on in order to perform a particular task.

This is the first test in a series of three, the remaining two will follow next week, so stay tuned to our Facebook page for the links to those. There are 5-7 questions per test and each test should only take 5 minutes to complete.

We’ll use the results from these tests to make further improvements before the new portal goes live, so it’s really important that you take part. We want to listen to our users and reflect your behaviours and requirements into all our new updates. We really need as much feedback as possible therefore we urge you all to share the link to the test within your own circles on social media. Thank you!
