Meet Europeana: Anna van den Broek

Anna van den Broek started working for Europeana in the Marketing Communications department almost two years ago. Since the first day, she cycles through wind and rain to the office at the National Library of the Netherlands, The Hague, riding across the inner courtyard and trying not to clash into any politicians or occasionally the prime minister. She is mainly busy with the coordination of Europeana’s virtual exhibitions. Besides that, she assists with the organisation of events, partner meetings and managing translations.

The thing Anna enjoys most about her work is being involved with the virtual exhibitions. She says, ‘It’s really nice to work on the exhibitions, I learn new things every time. It is amazing to see how individual objects from Europeana can tell an interesting story when you put them together. We have a new one launching next week – so look out for that!’

One of Anna’s favourite items on Europeana is from Eadweard Muybridge – A Stork Walking.

‘I chose this object not only because I think storks are amazing birds, but also because this certain bird represents the symbol of The Hague, the town where I grew up. ‘
