We are excited to announce that voting is open for the Art Nouveau Category in the Wiki Loves Monuments competition!
Wiki Loves Monuments is a photo contest that was organised in over 15 European countries last summer. An impressive number of pictures were uploaded, with over 169,000 entries. Europeana is an official partner and is sponsoring 1 of the 12 prizes awarded to the best photograph from each category. We are endorsing the Art Nouveau category and asked participants to tag their photos of Art Nouveau monuments to be considered in the competition.
We have whittled down the submissions and hand picked 343 finalists from 2,700 entries based on quality, composition and duplication. The winner from the Art Nouveau category will receive an aluminium print of their work and an Art Nouveau book. The 50 most popular photos will also be included in a virtual exhibition on the Europeana portal, which will complement our existing Art Nouveau exhibition.
We invite you all to be part of the jury and vote for your favourite photos – the ones that you think best capture the beauty of this important art movement. Voting is open from November 17 until December 5 2011 to anyone with a Flickr account. Photos have been broken down into 6 different galleries:
- Hungary & Russia (38 Photos)
- Spain (127 Photos)
- Estonia, Romania & Poland (40 Photos)
- Portugal (44 Photos)
- Austria (44 Photos)
- Sweden, Holland, France & Germany (50 Photos)
If you have more than one favourite, please feel free to vote multiple times. Click here to view all the galleries and start voting for your favourite images.
Hmmm, what a deception !! Europeana does not knwo that Art Nouveau was invented in Brussels (Belgium )??!!
NOT A SINGLE BUILDING FROM Brussels ??
THAT IS A MONUMENTAL ERROR!!
Dear Jacopo,
Thank you for your email and for you comments.
The Art Nouveau photography contest is a Wiki Love Monuments photo competition special category sponsored by Europeana. We asked participants to tag their photos to be considered in the Art Nouveau competition. We whittled down the submissions and hand picked 343 finalists from 2,700 entries based on quality, composition and duplication. Unfortunately there were not many entries from Belgium.
In our blog you can see that we have posted two pictures from Belgium from our digital archive and we also have mentioned Belgium in our Art Nouveau virtual exhibition.
Please, let me know if you would like any other information from us.
Kind regards,
Ana Paula Araujo
